What a crazy last night of baseball........American League Drama

Does it get much better then last night if your a baseball fan?  Notice I said baseball fan and not a Braves or Red Sox fan.  I'm sure those people had a sleepless night last night with more to come. I started watching the Rays game around 7 with my son in the background saying go Cardinals, which I told him was the right team to root for most of the time but not in baseball.  I quickly got him on the Go Rays chant.  So in the first inning of the Rays game Ben Zobrist lets a ground ball go through his legs at second and Curtis Granderson scores for the Yanks to make it 1-0 in the first.  At the time I wasn't thinking it was to much of  a big deal it was only the first and there was plenty of game left.  However, I didn't realize the Rays were going into one of their offense slumps like they have many times before this season.  To top that off the Yanks continued to add runs I think Mark Texiera hit 5 homers last night...just kidding but he did pound David Price.  So I kind of started flipping back and forth between the Red Sox Orioles Game but it seemed like when I turned it back to the Yanks game they had scored another run.  Eventually it got to be 7-0 in the Yanks favor.  The Red Sox were leading the Orioles 3-2 didn't have the good vibes at this time for the Rays season to continue but then came the 8th inning. I had just flipped back to the Rays game and the bases were loaded with no outs so I thought maybe there is a chance if they can do something here they must have thought they same thing. The Yanks walked in a run, hit Sean Rodriguez to bring in a run, there was a Sac fly and the Longoria hits a 3 run blast to bring the game to 7-6.  I jumped off the coach clapping and screaming I'm surprised my wife and kid never woke up.  Anyways we were going into the ninth still down a run but something that could happen I thought.  Still checking in on the Red Sox game they were still up 3-2 and they went in to a rain delay. So the bottom of the ninth came and the Rays went down to 2 quick outs the Joe the Jedi Maddon summoned Dan Johnson to pinch hit off the bench. He was in for one reason we all knew and that was to hit a bomb and tie this thing up and with 2 strikes and 2 outs Dan Johnson did what must people dreamed about when they were kids at least boys did he hit it out to tie the game.  Okay we dream to hit a homer to win the game but work with me here this was pretty awesome. So on into Extras meanwhile Boston was still in a rain delay and I was thinking it looks like Boston will probably win so if we can pull this game off we will at least get to see one more day.  So it makes it to the 12th inning and I'm thinking we have to do something because eventually the Yanks are going to score so we need to score.  During the break I flipped to the Red Sox game and PappelBUM was in and he got 2 outs so I was thinking well maybe if the Rays can pull it out we will at least get to play them tomorrow but, then Reimold from the Orioles hit a double but that's when I flipped it back to the Rays game then I heard the crowd to cheering even louder when nothing was going on to find out the Orioles had tied the game.  Then I swear it was like right when Longoria was stepping up to the plate and the crowd got loud again  and they flashed the score on the TV the Orioles had won.  Then it seemed literally like a minute later Longoria hit a game winning home run.   I seriously couldn't believe it I was watching basically 5 hours of baseball with the extra innings and the Boston rain delay and it all seemed to end within a period of minutes.  It all seemed like poetic justice when I turned back to the Red Sox game to see what happened and Carl Crawford couldn't come up with a catch in the outfield and Reimold scored to win the game for the Orioles.  The Red Sox collapse was complete. Unreal, Unbelievable or any other adjective you can come up with is the only way to describe what the Rays have done coming back down 9 games on Sept 3rd to a team that took your all time franchise player. So we head to the playoffs for the 3rd time out of 4 years to play the Texas Rangers.  Rays haven't played well against Texas as far back as I remember but maybe this year.  I know one thing I'm not doubting them at this point and they are headed over to Texas with momentum the only thing I wonder is its a new month and can the Rays top what they did in Sept.?  Who knows but at least I get to watch a playoff game which seemed like a dream a month ago.  Go Rays
