Big East seems to be loaded again. Lets see if that can translate into the NCAA tourney. Only saving grace last year was UCONN won it all. Should be another good year in college bball with North Carolina sitting up top.

1:00 PM EDT | 7 | HOU | TEN | AFC South battle. Houston I think wins this division. Texans on the road. | |||
1:00 PM EDT | 7 | DEN | MIA | Tebow era starts. More Tebow jerseys will be in the stands then Dophins. Two bad teams. I will take the Tebows. | |||
1:00 PM EDT | 7 | SD | NYJ | Jets offense still is not impressive. I will take the Super Chargers on the road. | |||
1:00 PM EDT | 7 | CHI | TB | The London bowl. Bears beat down the Vikings last week. Bucs bounced back from a beating to the Niners to beat the Saints. I like the Bucs. | |||

4:15 PM EDT | 7 | GB | MIN | Green Bay whoops the Vikings in Ponder's first start. | |||

NFL Picks Week 7
WEEK 7
Seattle at Cleveland, 1 pm -Seattle beat the Giants in their last game on the road. Cleveland continues to struggle. Seattle
Atlanta at Detroit, 1 pm-Detroit took their first loss last week in Shake Gate. Atlanta is starting to run the ball more with Turner. Still not impressed. I like Detroit.
Houston at Tennessee, 1 pm- Houston lost at Baltimore last week and the Titans had a bye. This is a division game in which I expect Houston to win in a down AFC South.
Denver at Miami, 1 pm- Tim Tebow era begins. Miami is a bad football team and looks to be headed for that Andrew Luck pick. I will take Tebow on the road. Denver
San Diego at NY Jets, 1 pm-The Jest still dont impress me even though they beat the Dolphins on Monday night. Big whoop. I like San Diego on the road.
Chicago at Tampa (London), 1 pm- The London game. Tampa had a big win against the Saints. Chicago whooped up on another bad team in Minnesota. I like the Bucs.
Washington at Carolina, 1 pm- John Beck time in Washington. The Cam Newtons continue to lose close games. I like Carolina to pull it out at home.
Pittsburgh at Arizona, 4:05 pm- Still not sure about the Steelers this year. They don't seem like that dominant force they have been the past 5 years. Arizona however is bad. Steelers in this one.
Kansas City at Oakland, 4:05 pm-Who is Oakland's qb now? Kyle Boller? Not good. However, they are playing KC so Oakland will just run the ball all day with McFadden. Oakland
Green Bay at Minnesota, 4:15 pm-Minnesota stinks. Mcnabb is done and in comes Ponder. Green Bay is a force. They might not lose a game. Green Bay by a lot.
St. Louis at Dallas, 4:15 pm- Can people stop sticking up for Tony Romo? The guy just doesn't get it done when it matters. St. Louis however is winless. Cowboys bounce back but you know Romo throws a couple picks.
Indianapolis at N. Orleans, 8:20 pm -Indy is another team in the Luck sweepstakes. New Orleans is pissed they just lost. The Saints are finally back home. New Orleans
Monday, October 24
Baltimore at Jacksonville, 8:30 pm- Another bad Monday Night Football game. Is this Del Rio's last game? Not sure but if your a Jags fan and you think your offense cant do much now wait until Baltimore comes in. Ed Reed and Ray Lewis I'm sure will introduce themselves to Blaine Gabbert. Good luck Blaine don't get killed. Baltimore.
Bye: Buff, Cincy, NE, NYG, Philly, SF

World Series-St. Louis at Texas
World Series
0
- FOX
- 8:05 PM ET
St. Louis took out Milwaukee and Texas finished of Detroit. Who had this as the World Series? Not me. Anyway this is the battle of 2 hot teams. One team was 10 games back in August the other pretty much cruised in. Carpenter goes for St. Louis in game 1 and CJ Wilson goes for Texas. Wilson has been rough up in the playoffs thus far. Carpenter is a stud. St. Louis wont be intimidated by Texas on the road or their line up. St. Louis clinched the division series on the road in Philly so they have been there and wont be scared. Like I have been saying the Cardinals seem to have the feel of the Green Bay Packers run in the NFL last year to win the Super Bowl. They both fought to get into the playoffs at the last minute then got hot at the right time to win it. I like St. Louis with Carpenter on the mound to take game 1 at Texas.

College basketball-Midnight Madness last night
ESPNU last night showed a bunch of schools opening up practice last night. Louisville,UNC,Duke,Michigan State,Syracuse and a bunch of others were all on the show. Tom Izzo came out in a fighter jet with theme music from Top Gun. Izzo just lived a dream of mine. Anyway, Doug Gottlieb and Hubert Davis were on the show analyzing some of the teams. Does these guys do nay research at all or just repeat the same things over and over. How man teams can you hear I like his length, athleticism and his ability to drive to the basket. Anyways I love that college basketball is around the corner. Here is a look at Rivals presseason poll.

ALCS - GAME 6 Texas leads series 3-2
Game back in Texas tonight. The Tigers hit for the natural cycle last game to beat Texas and extend the series. Verlander pitched his normal MVP self. Now the pressure really goes back on Texas. Texas must win game 6 to really not feel the full pressure. If Detroit wins game 6 and ties the series at 3-3 then all the pressure will be on Texas for a game 7. I hope this happens. Who doesn't like a game 7 in the playoffs? Both pitchers tonight have pitched well thus far in the post season it should be another tightly contested game.
NLCS
St. Louis beat the Brewers 7-1 last night to take a 3-2 series lead. However, this series shifts back to Milwaukee where the Brewers have been lights out all year. Something tells me this series could go to 7 games as well. A 7 game series in the ALCS and the NLCS would be awesome for any baseball fan who isn't a fan if any of the teams. Put me in that Category. So as of now lets go Tigers ann Brewers.

College Picks/Oct.15th Top 25
MLB Recap-Oct 12th
AL Playoffs
Texas 7 Detroit 3
Anyone hotter then Elvin Cruz? The guy is a shoe in for the ALCS MVP if Texas doesn't collapse. Texas pulled it out in the 11th inning last night. With the 400th rain delay of the post season. Detroit has Verlander going tonight so they have a good shot to get the series back to Texas. However, don't think it matters I don't see Texas losing 2 in a row at home. Looks Like Texas in the AL side for the World Series.
Series 3-1 Texas
NL Playoffs
St. Louis 4 Milwaukee 3
Carpenter didn't have a good start last night but the bullpen helped him out. The Brewer's have to win tonight or I don't see this series making it back to Milwaukee. Price Fielder could been in his final days in a Brewer uniform. This guy will get a huge contract in the off season but it wont be from Milwaukee. St. Louis I think finishes this thing off in St. Louis over the next 2 games. Look at the bright side Brewers fans you won your first playoff series since 1982. Wonder if T-Plush regrets calling Pujols Alberta?

Texas 7 Detroit 3
Elvin Cruz this kid is having an unbelievable ALCS. Rangers take it in extras last night. Has there been a better off season acquisition then Mike Napoli? The guy is hitting .383 since June 11th. The Tigers have Verlander going tonight so they have a good shot to take the series back to Texas but at this point I don't see Texas losing 2 straight at home. Looking like a St. Louis and Texas Rangers World Series at this point.
ALCS - GAME 4 Texas leads series 3-1
NL Playoffs
ST. Louis 4 Milwaukee 3
Albert Pujols is playing lights out. St. Louis scrapped out a win with their bullpen and Carpenter had a rough start. Milwaukee has to win tonight or this series may never make it back to Milwaukee. Like I said before St. Louis is reminding me of what Green Bay did in the playoffs. They barely scraped in but are clicking at the right time. Don't see St. Louis losing this series. Price Fielder has a few more days left as a Brewer then he will be in a different uniform next year.

Week 6-NFL Picks
Time | Week | Visiting Team | Home Team | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Sunday 10/16/2011 | |||||||
1:00 PM EDT | 6 | CAR | ATL | Cam Newton seems to keep getting very close but cant seem to get over the hump except against the Jags. Hey who doesn't get over the hump against the Jags. I still like Carolina to win this game. Atlanta hasn't lived up to preseason hype. Carolina | |||
1:00 PM EDT | 6 | IND | CIN | Cincy has the top Defense in the NFL. I like Andy Dalton and AJ Green on this team. Indy is trying to get into the suck for Luck sweepstakes and they are doing a good job. Cincy | |||
1:00 PM EDT | 6 | SF | DET | Two hot teams right now. Detroit has all the pieces and San Fran finally gives the NFC West a good team. Jim Harbaugh is working his magic but not sure anyone has enough magic to stop the Lions right now. Detroit | |||
1:00 PM EDT | 6 | STL | GB | Green Bay train keeps rolling. Top Team in football right now I think. St. Louis has been atrocious. Easy win on the path to the Super Bowl for the Pack. Green Bay | |||
1:00 PM EDT | 6 | PHI | WAS | The Dream Team keeps slip sliding away. What a bad start for these guys. A complete debacle. The Redskins have a good defense with a good running game with Hightower back there. Philly cant stop the run or much else. Washington | |||
1:00 PM EDT | 6 | BUF | NYG | Giants lost a shocker to Seattle last week. Buffalo regrouped after the lost to the Bengals the week before to beat the Dream Team. Giants know they let one slip. I think the knock off Buffalo. New York | |||
1:00 PM EDT | 6 | JAX | PIT | Pittsburgh has to much everything for the Jags at this point. Will Del Rio get fired during the bye week? Pittsburgh | |||
4:05 PM EDT | 6 | HOU | BAL | Houston lost a tough one at home to Oakland last week. Baltimore had a bye. I don't think the Houston has the team yet to match up with Baltimore, plus Houston will probably be without Andre Johnson again. Baltimore | |||
4:05 PM EDT | 6 | CLE | OAK | I think Oakland is a solid team this year. Darren McFadden is tearing it up on the ground. Jason Campbell has played well. Oakland's defense has been solid for the most part. Cleveland has a sick Peyton Hillis...wink,wink. Oakland | |||
4:15 PM EDT | 6 | DAL | NE | Tom Brady and Tony Romo. Is this a football game or fashion show? Tony Romo continues to lose close games and make bad decisions. Tom Brady isn't going to lose at home in the regular season. Playoffs? Maybe. New England | |||
4:15 PM EDT | 6 | NO | TB | Tampa was whooped up and down the field last week in San Fran. New Orleans has a great offense but almost lost to Carolina on the road. Tanard Jackson is back for the Bucs but don't think it matters New Orleans offense will be to much for the Bucs to keep up with. New Orleans | |||
8:20 PM EDT | 6 | MIN | CHI | The Vikes finally won a game after having a half time lead. Good job Minnesota. The Bears are banged up and if Jahvid Best can run through the Bears defense with no trouble what do you think Adrian Peterson can do? I like the Vikes to win on the road here. | |||
Monday 10/17/2011 | |||||||
8:30 PM EDT | 6 | MIA | NYJ | Seriously this is the Monday Night football game? The Dolphins are horrible. Chad Henne is out. Who is the Dolphins qb? Dan Marino? The Jets will end their losing streak and win this god awful Monday Night game. New York |
Battle of the Keg of Nails-Louisville at Cincy Sat. 12pm Big East Network
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Keg_of_Nails
Saturday the Battle of the Keg of Nails takes place in Cincinnati at Paul Brown Stadium. Probably will be as many Louisville fans at the game as Cincinnati since its about about a little over an hours drive down the road. Cincy has won this game the past 3 years. Pretty much since Petrino left the Louisville campus the Bearcats have had the upper hand in the series. The Bearcats are sitting at 4-1 this season and Louisville is at 2-3. Should be a tough game for Louisville considering our offense cant score points. Our offense line is bad and we have about 12 true freshmen getting playing time which includes our qb. Cincy has Zach Collaros back along with 11 starters back from last years team. Louisville has seemed to play better on the road which is a plus but still with the way Cincy can score I'm not sure Louisville's offense can keep pace. Howver, this is basically a new season since this our first conference game of the season. Louisville's defense has played well this season but can they get turnovers? I think its a must for that to happen for Louisville to have any chance here. I remember when I was in school and John L. Smith then Bobby Petrino was our coach we used to kill Cincy every year. Who can forget the one year when the game was in Louisville and the Bearcats came out in pregame and stomped on the bird mid field? We went on to win that game 70-7. Those were the days. Seems like a life time ago. Now our offense has a hard time scoring 14 points a game. Anyways, until the Louisville offense really shows me they can score I cant predict them to win a game against an offense like the Bearcats. I have Cincy 28 Cards 13.

Conference Realignment/Mizzou
Mizzou, Mizzou where are you? SEC came out of their meetings on Monday with no offer to Mizzou. Then hours later a report was leaked I'm sure on purpose showing how much money Mizzou would make if they came to the SEC. So how does Mizzou have all this power seriously? I mean sure they have had some decent teams and qb's in the past with Blaine Gabbert and Chase Daniel (Drew Brees clipboard holder) but come on. They seem to be staying quiet on what they are going or want to do. Whenever, they do decide the dominoes could fall again in expansion. Mainly the Big East potential targets for the Big 12 are Louisville,West Virginia and Cincy. Is what I have been reading. In the mean time the Big East says they want to expand the league to 12 teams. Little to late don't you think? Adding Temple, UCF, Navy, Air Force, Army doesn't exactly get me pumped up to watch football season. Im sure they Friday night game against Temple at Papa John;s Cardinal stadium will be a huge hit. The Big East is on its way to C-USA 2.0, which, I'm sorry wont keep them as a BCS League beyond 2014. So what will happen in the coming weeks, months? I'm not sure but it sucks to think Mizzou holds a lot of potential football programs lives in their hands while we wait. One positive since Louisville is a basketball school regardless what conference we go to we can still make the NCAA tourney.
Detroit Lions 5-0 for real?
The Lions beat the Bears last night 24 13. Seriously what year is this 1951? The Lions are for real though. I would say this isn't your Grandpa's Lions then again maybe it is if your Grandpa was born before the 50's. The Lions were on display last night and showed why they are the real deal. The finally have a franchise QB in Stafford. One of if not the best receivers in the game in Calvin Johnson. Also did you see their defensive line? Some big dudes that get after you. Suh leads that charge but Avril and Vanden Bosch are steady. The Lions also seem to have a nifty running back in 2nd year play Jahvid Best. This kid went off last night...did you see that 88 yard dash? The Bears looked awful on the offensive line and their defense had many holes in it. I mean seriously an 88 yard run and the Best wasn't even touched. The Bears have many issues but regardless the Lions took care of business on the national stage which shows me a lot about this team. Never thought I would say I cant way for Thanksgiving to see the Bears and Packers game. Those are only thoughts I bet your grandpa or great grandpa would have said.
MLB Playoffs-Oct 10th recap
AL Playoffs
0
- Final/11
DET: Scherzer (0-0, 4.50 ERA)
TEX: Holland (0-0, 10.13 ERA)
ALCS - GAME 2 Texas leads series 2-0
Detroit ran into Nelson Cruz last night. This kid is squaring up everything off the bat and driving the ball a long way. When I say a long way I mean hitting bombs son. The Tigers and Rangers went into extras last night. When Cruz first tied the game at 3-3 in the 7th with a homer out to left. Then both squads couldn't score in regulation so it went into to extras. In the bottom of the 11th the Rangers had 3 hits with bases loaded and not outs up comes Cruz again.. He hits a bomb foul and for some reason Detroit's pitcher throws him another cookie and he rips it for the first ever career gland slam walk off in post season history. Tough for Detroit to come back at this point but the Tigers are headed back to Detroit so its not ever by any stretch.
NL Playoffs
1
Last Play: End of the 9th
STL: Jackson (0-0, 4.15 ERA)
MIL: Marcum (0-1, 11.25 ERA)
NLCS - GAME 2 Series tied 1-1
Sean Marcum got shelled and Pujols is on fire. Not good for the Brewers. The Cardinals did what they needed to do and got a split on the road. Now the series heads back to St. Louis. I just don't see the Brewers winning the series. St. Louis all way in my mind. At least in the National League.
